2). ROBOTICS LEGS
Device can assist those with spinal cord injuries, weakened leg muscles or polio.

3). EMG STIMULATOR:
The action of nerves and muscle is essentially electrical. Information is transmitted along nerves as a series of electrical discharges carrying information in pulse repetition frequency. This may be in the range of 1 to 100 pulses/sec.

Contraction of muscle fibers is also associated with an electrical discharge which can be detected by measuring electrodes or brought about by electrical stimulation. EMG is most often used when people have symptoms of weakness, and examination shows impaired muscle strength. It can help to differentiate primary muscle conditions from muscle weakness caused by neurological disorders. EMG can be used to differentiate between true weakness and reduced use because of pain or lack of motivation.

EMG equipment consists of recording electrodes, preamplifiers (which are normally placed very close to the patient to avoid pick-up of electrical interference), amplifiers to provide the correct gain, calibration and frequency characteristics, a display system (usually a CRT), a range of integrators and averages - partly to achieve some data compression (chart records may be very long and difficult to read), and a recording medium, which is often a photographic (fiber-optic) system.

The most typical method for testing uses a needle electrode inserted through the skin into the muscle. The electrical activity detected by this electrode is displayed on a CRT (and may be displayed audibly through a speaker). Because skeletal muscles are isolated and often large units, each electrode gives only an average picture of the activity of the selected muscle. Several electrodes may need to be placed at various locations to obtain an accurate study. After placement of the electrode(s), the patient may be asked to contract the muscle (for example, by bending the arm). The presence, size, and shape of the wave form produced on the oscilloscope (the action potential) provide information about the ability of the muscle to respond to nervous stimulation. Each muscle fibre that contracts will produce an action potential, and the size of the muscle fibre affects the rate (how frequently an action potential occurs) and size (amplitude) of the action potential(s). A nerve conduction velocity test is often done at the same time as an EMG. There may be some discomfort with insertion of the electrodes (similar to an intramuscular injection). Afterward, the examined muscle may feel tender or bruised for a few days. Muscle tissue is normally electrically silent at rest. Once the insertion activity (caused by the trauma of needle insertion) quiets down, there should be no action potential on the oscilloscope. When the muscle is voluntarily contracted, action potentials begin to appear. As contraction is increased, more and more muscle fibres produce action potentials until a disorderly group of action potentials of varying rates and amplitudes (complete recruitment and interference pattern) appears with full contraction.

Many EMG tests involve the use of stimulators to induce discharges in a nerve trunk, and detect the response by surface electrodes over a muscle served by that nerve. In this case the signals may be as large as 2 mV, and may be presented audibly or for recording on a high-speed chart recorder. Such evoked response tests might be for determining the nerve conduction time, or for assessing the performance of the neuromuscular control system. There are many different disorders of the nervous system and EMG examination has to be tailored to the particular requirements of the individual patient. Thus, these tests are normally carried out by a specialist in electromyography within the neurology department.


4). BIOMOVE 3000:
The Biomove 3000 is an inexpensive easy-to-use home training system for rehabilitation of paralyzed arm or leg muscles after a stroke.

The Biomove 3000 system is used for stroke rehabilitation by muscle re-education. It works by detecting the EMG signals still left in muscles and triggering muscle movement. In practice this means that when working with the Biomove, patients must try to make a movement which then gets picked up and amplified, and only then will they be rewarded with electrical stimulation. This method teaches the brain to re-develop spontaneous and voluntary muscle control.

The Biomove 3000 is a home device which will work in almost all standard stroke cases, except when the remaining voluntary movement of the stroke survivor is close to zero. If the patient still has voluntary movement e.g. a toe or finger, the Biomove home system is the right choice.

If the stroke survivor hardly has any movement left, the biomove 5000 Pro device is the right choice as it is able to measure very weak EMG signals with its superior EMG detector and signal processing system.

As well as for muscle re-education, the Biomove is also used for prevention of retardation of disuse atrophy, increasing local blood circulation, and maintaining or increasing range of motion.

The controls of the system are user-friendly and simple to operate. The unit has been designed for use by the stroke patient without need for complicated set-up by a clinician or therapist.

The Biomove 3000 has only two control knobs: one to set the sensitivity level for picking up the residual electrical muscle signals, and one to set the level of stimulation impulse to the muscles to be re-educated.

Three LED lamps enable the patient to monitor the status of the system while using it. The Biomove home system is a small portable battery-powered device, which can be placed on a table during the training session or worn with a belt attachment.

The Biomove 3000 is a very economically priced device for use at home. It takes just a couple of minutes to set up the system and to start training!

5.) BIOMOVE 5000:
The Biomove 5000 is not only an excellent Stroke Rehabilitation system but also a very easy to use stroke recovery device, for use by the stroke survivor.

The Biomove 5000 is equally well suited for muscle rehabilitation therapy after Spinal Cord Injury [SCI] and Cerebral Palsy (CP). The unit has only one knob and control of all functions is fully automatic.


The system automatically switches into the relaxation mode after setting the muscle stimulation level. Pleasant music is played during the relaxation period. When the music stops a blue LED light starts blinking and the user can start voluntary muscle movement efforts.

The own electrical muscle activity (EMG) of the user is now shown on a blue LED bar = > the stronger the EMG signal the more LED's are turned on!

At each side of the blue LED bar is a green LED bar. The function of these green LED bars is to show the user that there is a "goal" to be reached. The blue LED's move up towards the green "goal", according to the muscle movement the user is able to generate. The moment the "goal" is reached after a series of stimulation impulses are delivered resulting in actual muscle movement! After the muscle stimulation time is over, the music starts playing again during the relaxation time, and the same cycle is repeated. The target level to be reached is continuously monitored, memorized and shown on the green LED bars. The optimal target level changes according to the voluntary muscle movement the user is able to generate! This in order to stimulate the user to generate as much as possible EMG signal for the next muscle movement attempt. If the user is only able to make a very minimal movement, the target level is automatically lowered to enable the user to reach the target anyway.
The total therapy session may last between 20 and 30 minutes. The Biomove 5000 is the very latest innovation for use both at home by the stroke survivor and by the therapist in a clinical setting.
